H.E. President Pierre
Nkurunziza Teaching The People of Burundi
|
President Pierre Nkurunziza, the
President of the Republic of Burundi, believes that to empower a nation you
must education the people. So within his 9-year tenure as the President of the
Republic of Burundi, he has encouraged the building of over 2,500 schools
around the country. In the first 50 years of independence the country built
1,800 schools. This president believes in action and as a result of the
Community Works Day incentive, the people are aggressively building schools in
their communities. This has been a great unifier of the two tribes having
long-standing conflict, the Hutu and the Tutsi. Working together to build their
nation is making a difference.
Ambassador Clyde Rivers said, “To
watch a people build a nation with their own hands, one brick at a time, is an
outstanding and effective model for transformation.”
This is the New Burundi!
